# India daily news calendar (2011-10-01 → 2026-10-06, IST) Day-by-day calendar of **major India / India-markets news** for Nifty/Sensex opens and daily-return joins. One row per calendar day (including weekends/holidays). **Join key = `date`** (YYYY-MM-DD, Asia/Kolkata). Quiet days = `(quiet)` / `impact=none` — that means **no verified major item was captured**, not that nothing happened. ## Files | file | what | |------|------| | `india_daily_news.csv` / `.jsonl` | **Full 15y series** (5485 rows): 2011-10-01..2026-10-06 | | `india_daily_news_15y.csv` / `.jsonl` | Same full series (explicit 15y artifact) | | `india_daily_news_202410_202610.csv` / `.jsonl` | Snapshot of the prior short window (Oct 2024–Oct 2026) kept for reference | | `events_calendar.csv` / `events_calendar_15y.csv` | Scheduled / known events (`certainty=scheduled`): RBI/policy, FOMC, US CPI, Budget, elections, NSE holidays, Muhurat, special sessions, SEBI structure | | `build_calendar.py` | Regenerator. Historical seed: `_hist_events.json`, `_fomc_hist.txt`. Trading days prefer Nifty OHLC sessions | | `build_calendar_202410_202610.py` | Frozen short-window builder (reference) | ## Daily columns Same schema as before: `date`, `is_trading_day`, `headline`, `summary`, `categories`, `bias_tags`, `impact`, `sources`, `notes`. ### Timing conventions - **US CPI**: 08:30 ET → after India close; next NSE session gets `us-cpi-overnight`. - **FOMC**: 14:00 ET → IST mapping; next session gets `fomc-overnight` when needed. - **RBI MPC / policy**: ~10:00 IST mid-session (open carries event premium). Pre-Oct 2016 rows are bi-monthly / off-cycle policy statements (MPC began Oct 2016). - **`is_trading_day`**: derived primarily from Nifty 50 daily sessions (`^NSEI` OHLC). Weekday gaps = holidays / no session. ## Coverage and limits (honest) **Scheduled (full span, regenerable):** - RBI MPC / policy decision dates (pre-MPC policy + MPC era as published) - Union Budget days (incl. interim / post-election full budgets) - Lok Sabha result / exit-poll days that moved markets (2014, 2019, 2024) - NSE holidays via Nifty session gaps (+ named holidays 2024-10+) - US FOMC decision dates; US CPI release dates with India-open reaction tagging **Verified HIGH-IMPACT one-offs (non-exhaustive):** demonetisation 2016-11-08/09, GST launch 2017-07-01, Budget LTCG 2018-02, IL&FS/NBFC 2018-09, corp tax cut 2019-09, Yes Bank 2020-03-05, COVID crash Mar 2020, Ukraine Feb 2022, plus the dense Oct 2024–Oct 2026 curated set. **Gaps / thinner years:** - One-off *headline* coverage is densest for Oct 2024–Oct 2026 and for well-known crisis episodes; many ordinary volatile days in 2011–2019/2021–2023 remain `(quiet)`. - Some US CPI dates in 2011–2014 and mid/late 2021–2024 are schedule-derived from BLS/ALFRED/PFEI secondary lists (see notes flags `early-archive-approx` / `schedule-derived`) — treat as scheduled calendar, not always double-checked against the PDF timestamp. - **Earnings** still optional / mostly absent. - India CPI/IIP/GDP, daily FII/DII, and most SEBI circulars are not fully enumerated. - Quiet ≠ nothing. ## How to refresh 1. Edit `_hist_events.json` and/or the recent lists inside `build_calendar.py`. 2. Refresh Nifty OHLC if needed (`nifty50_daily_ohlc_15y.csv`) so trading-day flags stay accurate. 3. Run `/workspace/opt-venv/bin/python build_calendar.py`. Primary calendars: RBI (`AnnualPolicy.aspx`), Fed FOMC calendars / historical year pages, BLS CPI schedule/archive, NSE holiday circulars (recent), India Budget list (indiabudget / Wikipedia). Bias framing only. Not trade advice.
